Life’s circumstances can often wear us down. But God offers to heal the wounded places in our lives. He wants to give us strength when we feel weak and reveal his unfailing love for us. And one of the ways he does this is through his Word.
Scripture offers the renewal we seek after long bouts with sickness, grief, and trials of various kinds. God’s Word renews our spirits and gives us hope.
In a survey conducted by American Bible Society called State of the Bible: USA 2021, we see that more people are increasingly turning to God for comfort and help. The report, which recognizes cultural trends regarding spirituality and Scripture engagement, reveals in chapter 4 entitled, “The Good Life” that as people consistently interact with the Bible, their sense of hope tends to increase. “We’re seeing that even when we face the storms of life, an active faith—rooted in the Bible and the Church—guides us toward a better future that’s filled with hope, purpose, and satisfaction,” said John Farquhar Plake, PhD and director of Ministry Intelligence at American Bible Society.
Today, if you are feeling spiritually tired, be renewed by spending time in God’s Word. To enhance your daily Bible reading, American Bible Society has just released the 2022 Daily Bible Reading Guide, which explores the theme: “God’s Renewing Word.” Available in both English and Spanish, this guide provides Scripture readings for every day of the year. You may also subscribe to the Daily Bible Reading, which provides background information on each day’s Scripture passage, key verses for meditation, reflection questions to help you dive deeper into Scripture, and prayers to help you connect to God and be of spiritual support to others.
We pray that as you read the Bible each day, God will speak to you and renew your spirit. And that you are encouraged by Scripture verses such as 2 Corinthians 4:16 (GNT):
. . . we never become discouraged. Even though our physical being is gradually decaying, yet our spiritual being is renewed day after day.
